Tobin Bridge Shut Down Unexpectedly For Part Of Rush Hour
BOSTON (CBS) – Part of the Tobin Bridge was shut down during rush hour Monday morning so police could talk down a suicidal man.
Traffic was backed up for miles.
The 38-year-old man was safely taken off the bridge by State Police just after 7 a.m.
He was first seen on the upper deck just before 6 a.m. standing at the railing at the edge of the bridge.
State troopers were called in, they closed the lanes inbound to Boston and talked with the man for about an hour, before he surrendered.
He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.
