SACO, MAINE (CBS) – A man in Maine is celebrating a huge milestone with his 1990 Honda Accord.

Joe LoCicero averages 14,000 miles a month on his car as a mechanic consultant.

He just turned one million miles.

In Saco, Maine his family and friends marked the occasion with a parade with floats, and a marching band.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Lana Jones reports

His Honda still has the original engine.

What’s his secret?

“Consistency is the key,” says LoCicero. “Try to stick with the same (mechanic) and you build a rapport a relationship.”

He says he serviced it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. He was just given a brand new Accord which his family says he will probably drive till it turns to dust.

That is great to hear. I have a 1993 Accord LX with 331 thousand miles on the engine and it runs just as smooth and strong as it ever has. Of course it has had the occational repairs and hiccups. The normal and expected ware and tear of the unavoidable. Joe is right, consistancy is key. Long live the Honda
