There he found a burglar rummaging through his wife’s purse and went after the man.

Buckingham, who was still in his underwear, chased the man out of the house and down the street.

While all of this was going on, Buckingham’s wife called 911, but police were already on the way.

“We got a couple of calls that we should probably check this out. (He was) running down the street in his underwear. We tell people not to be involved, not to get that involved. But he helped us out. However he was dressed, he helped us out,” according to Wareham Police Lieutenant Kevin Walsh.

That initial calls came from motorists who spotted Buckingham running down the street in his underwear.

Buckingham eventually cornered the suspect, identified as Stephen Campbell, in the woods.
