CONCORD, N.H. (CBS) – It is a heartbreaking mystery. Celina Cass was murdered more than two months ago and there have still been no arrests.
Each passing day is only more frustrating for her mother.
Celina went missing in late July and divers found her body wrapped in a blanket and submerged in the Connecticut River. Every day since her mother, Louisa Cass, has asked one question.
WBZ-TV’s Lauren Leamanczyk reports
“I want to know who did this to my baby,” Louisa tells WBZ. “I don’t know who did it. We have our suspicions but we can’t say anything.”
In tight knit West Stewartstown many people have already pointed the finger at Wendell Noyes, Celina’s stepfather. In an interview this week, he denied any involvement in her death. Louisa Cass no longer lives with Wendell but when asked about his statements.
Senior Attorney General Jane Young says she understands why people are frustrated and afraid.
“This is absolutely not a cold case,” says Young. “This is a case that investigators work on seven days a week.”
“They are as resolute in finding who killed her today as the day they found her body.”
Still, she will not name any persons of interest or tell us if they have cleared Noyes in connection with the crime.
She says, “I certainly understand rumors and speculations, but we rely on evidence.”
Each day a half dozen to a dozen investigators interview witnesses and comb through evidence. They are still waiting for the last piece to the puzzle. Louisa Cass hopes someone provides it soon.
Louisa pleads that, “If anyone knows anything about who murdered my daughter please come forward.”
