Bruins Banner Night 'Fan Fest'

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins open their 2011-12 season Thursday night, and besides raising their Stanley Cup banner, have a fun night planned for fans.

To make sure Bruins fans get the most out of their banner night, the team will host "Fan Fest" where fans can relive Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on the big screen in the TD Garden Plaza.

The best part is, it is open to fans who do not have a ticket to Thursday night's seaosn opener. Bruins fans of all ages can attend free outdoor festivities that will begin at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 p.m.

The opening night "Fan Fest" will include a variety of interactive games, a balloon artist and face painting. Throughout the evening, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls and the Boston Bruins mascot, Blades, will be mingling and taking photographs with fans.

Bruins fans will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Prince of Wales, Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophies as well as the Mark Messier Leadership Award.

In an effort to recognize the amazing support from all of New England, and to pay homage to the men and women who serve our community, the Bruins will be holding a "White Glove Stick Salute" leading up to the game. Police, fire and military personnel from all over New England, members of the Hockey Hall of Fame, and a youth hockey team will lead the parade and Stanley Cup down Canal and Causeway Street. The Cup will be escorted through the military formation and a "White Glove Stick Salute" all the way into the building, where it will be welcomed for Opening Night.
