Burlington Issues Boil-Water Order For E. Coli
BURLINGTON (AP) -- State and local officials have issued a boil-water order for Burlington after detecting E. coli bacteria in the town's water system.
Consumers are advised to boil for at least one minute any water used for drinking, as well as tooth brushing, hand washing, and food preparation, including washing vegetables.
They are also advised to throw away any ice, juice, infant formula and uncooked foods prepared using the water on or after Sept. 20.
WBZ-TV's Jonathan Elias reports
The water will undergo more testing before the order can be lifted.
The town of about 24,000 people is about 12 miles northwest of Boston.
