Mass. Encourages Residents To Ditch Their Cars Next Week
BOSTON (CBS) Traffic on the Mass. Pike COULD be a breeze next week.
Starting Sunday, Massachusetts is holding a car-free week, asking residents to ditch their cars in favor of alternative transportation.
Organizers say the idea began in Europe, where it has been a big hit.
Some of the alternative modes of transportation they suggest include carpools, bikes, buses and walking. They also say telecommuting is an option. They're also encouraging local businesses to get involved as well.
Participants can track their car-free trips at the Car-Free Week website and possibly win a prize.
