Turnbuckle That Helped Keep Old Man Of The Mountain Up Is Found

FRANCONIA NOTCH, N.H. (CBS) - Crews have found the piece of metal that once helped hold New Hampshire's "Old Man Of The Mountain" in place.

Using a helicopter and a grappling hook, the old metal turnbuckle was lifted out of Franconia Notch last Friday.

For around 50 years, this turnbuckle helped hold the Old Man in place, until the rock formation collapsed in 2003.

The turnbuckle will be used in a new memorial.
