Police Identify Man Charged With Shooting Woburn Police Officer

WOBURN (CBS) - The man charged with armed robbery and the shooting of a Woburn police officer has been identified as 25-year-old Antonio Matos of Boston.

Matos was identified by a relative Thursday.

The suspect, who was shot, reportedly had refused to cooperate with police.

He is charged with two counts of masked armed robbery, and two counts of assault with the intent to murder.

Woburn police officer Robert DeNapoli remains in the hospital after the shooting that happened during a jewelry heist Tuesday.

Earlier on Thursday, investigators released pictures of a couple of the suspects' tattoos in hopes of identifying him.

Matos remains in serious condition from the injuries sustained during the incident Tuesday.

Three other suspects are still on the loose.

This afternoon police put out a bulletin for a stolen 1998 Toyota Camry possibly connected to the investigation. WBZ has traced that car back to this housing project in Roxbury.  Late Thursday afternoon, detectives were outside the home where that car was registered.  They were leaving with several bags of evidence.
