Davis Named Acting MBTA General Manager

BOSTON (AP) -- A veteran MBTA official has been tapped to serve as acting general manager of the Boston-area transit system.

Jonathan Davis will assume the post on an interim basis on Sept. 2, when current general manager Richard Davey takes over the job of state transportation secretary.

Davis has served as the T's deputy general manager and chief financial officer for more than a decade.

Davey was recently tapped by Gov. Deval Patrick to replace Jeffrey Mullan as the state's top transportation official.

Mullan is returning to the private sector.
