Flags Lowered Across Mass. In Honor Of Fallen Soldier
BOSTON (CBS) – If you saw flags at half-staff across Massachusetts Saturday it was a tribute to a fallen soldier.
Governor Patrick ordered the United States and state flags lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise to sunset in honor of U.S. Army Specialist Nicholas Bernier.
Bernier died on June 25 in Landstuhl, Germany, three days after he was wounded in Logar Province, Afghanistan.
Bernier was from East Kingston, New Hampshire. He was the son of Tina Clements of Haverhill.
New Hampshire lowered its flags in his honor on July 9.
Bernier was 21 years old.
