String Of Home Burglaries Has Haverhill Residents on Alert

HAVERHILL (CBS) - Police in Haverhill are encouraging residents to be vigilant after a recent rash of break-ins in one neighborhood.

Four single-family homes in the Walnut Square area have been broken into in the last three weeks. In all cases, Haverhill Police Deputy Chief Donald Thompson says the burglar or burglars entered the homes in the same manner, through an unlocked window.

"The screen would be removed, windows open," he said. "Each case they'd just go right out through the door."

The suspects took jewelries, laptop computers, and cash while the homeowners were away.

Thompson is reminding residents to secure all windows and doors, especially when leaving their homes.
