Boater Missing Off Marshfield, Friend Charged With OUI

MARSHFIELD (CBS) - The search continued Sunday for a missing boater off the coast of Marshfield.

Coast Guard boats and helicopters searched the waters off Brant Rock Beach in Marshfield for 23-year-old Zac Woods, who fell off a 20-foot pleasure boat Saturday night.

Woods and 22-year-old Justin McDonald were on the boat at around 8:30 p.m. when the boat hit a jetty and spun out of control, sending the men into the water, according to the Marshfield Fire Chief. Neither man was wearing a life jacket.

WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez reports.

Coast Guard Lt. Joe Klinker said the boat was found running with no one on board when search crews arrived Saturday night. McDonald was spotted swimming toward the shore by a 17-year-old kayaker and saved, but Woods could not be found.

Searchers later found Woods's backpack in the water.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe reports.
