Red Sox Activate Tazawa From 60-Day DL, Assign To Portland
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox activated right-hander Junichi Tazawa from the 60-Day disabled list on Monday and optioned him to Double-A Portland.
Tazawa, who underwent Tommy John surgery last May and missed the entire 2010 season, will start for the Sea Dogs on Monday night.
Tazawa began a rehab assignment with High-A Salem on May 20, going 0-1 with a 6.05 ERA in six starts.

The 25-year-old righty was signed as an ineternational free agent in December of 2008, making his Major League debut in 2009. He combined to go 9-7 with a 2.55 ERA in 20 starts between Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket, and was 2-3 with a 7.46 ERA in the Majors that season.

To make room for Tazawa on the 40-man roster the Red Sox transfered left-hander Rich Hill to the 60-Day disabled list. Hill underwent Tommy John surgery in June.
