Commuter Trains Delayed Because Weather Too Hot

BOSTON (CBS) -- In the winter it was too cold and trains were delayed, now with summer approaching the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad says there are heat restrictions on the trains' speed.

In an email to customers the MBCR said heat induced speed restrictions were put in place Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The restrictions meant trains were expected to be delayed 10 to 15 minutes.

In the winter, there were several problems with MBCR trains being delayed or even cancelled because of the cold and snowy weather. Lawmakers got involved questioning the company about what had happened.

In January, Commuter Rail trains were late 27 percent of the time. That was the worst month for commuter rail delays in more than four years, according to state officials.
