Bear Killed 3 Days After Attacking NH Woman

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- The New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game says the bear believed to have attacked a Center Harbor woman outside her home was shot and killed by a conservation officer.

Officials say the large, adult male black bear exhibited extremely aggressive behavior before it was shot at about 9 p.m. Wednesday not far from where a woman was injured by a bear on Sunday night.

The woman was not seriously hurt.

Fish and Game Col. Martin Garabedian says the bear had to be killed to protect the public.

Garabedian says the bear had become accustomed to finding food at peoples' homes and it had lost its fear of people.

Officials had said the bear was being fed in the Center Harbor neighborhood for about five years.
