Cannons Auctioning Off Signed, Game-Worn Jerseys For 'Wounded Warriors'

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Cannons may not have won with their special camouflage jerseys, but Boston's outdoor lacrosse team is hoping they help with a great cause.

The Cannons wore limited edition camouflage jerseys during Saturday's 13-12 loss to the Denver Outlaws at Harvard Stadium in honor of Military Appreciation Night. After the game, each player autographed his jersey to be auctioned online to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

"As May 21st was Armed Forces Day, we wanted to honor US Military men and women a few different ways," said Cannons general manager Kevin Barney. "We made the special edition camo jerseys, we provided a number of tickets to local military bases, and now we hope to raise significant funds to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project."

The Wounded Warrior Project provides veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, combat stress or who have been physically injured with beneficial programs and a network of support.

The bidding is currently open and includes autographed jerseys from Ryan Boyle, Max Quinzani, Matt Poskay, Jim Connolly, Paul Rabil, Brad Ross, Pat Heim, Jason Duboe, Mike Stone, JJ Morrissey, Matt Smalley, Chris Eck, PT Ricci, Pat Gaffney, Garrett Pedley, Ryan Nizolek, Kyle Sweeney, Kip Turner and Jordan Burke.

Fans can bid on the special autographed game-worn jerseys through June 2.

The Cannons are currently 1-1 this season and play their next home game Saturday June 4 against Chesapeake Bayhawks.
