The Parent Report: The Newborn Home Visiting Program

BOSTON (CBS) - Help is available in Massachusetts for teen parents of newborn children.

Podcast

There were more than 5,500 teen births in Massachusetts in 2008.  That's the most recent number available. There is help available for teen parents facing the challenge of raising a child.

Tammy Bernardi is with the Healthy Families Massachusetts Newborn Home Visiting Program, funded by the Children's Trust Fund, and she says having the responsibility of raising a child is especially challenging for teens.

Being shown how to soothe a crying baby is important for these young parents.  Bernardi says this help is available in every city and town in Massachusetts and is vitally important to everyone.
