Haverhill Overpass Dedicated To State Trooper Killed In Line Of Duty
HAVERHILL (CBS) - There's now a lasting memorial to a State Trooper who lost his life in the line of duty.
A highway overpass on Route 495 in Haverhill has been renamed in honor of Captain Rick Cashin.
Cashin was killed in a crash in January of 2009. He was chasing an erratic driver when his cruiser slammed into a snow bank.
Fellow officers say it's a fitting tribute to a man who patrolled that area every day.
"Those of us who knew Rick will never forget the kind of man and State Trooper he was. Captain Cashin was a great Trooper, fully dedicated to his job and to his family," said State Police Superintendent, Col. Marian McGovern.
Cashin was a 28-year veteran of the Massachusetts State Police.
