Donald Trump In NH, Praises Self For Obama Birth Certificate Release

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS/AP) -- New Hampshire voters are getting their first close-up look at Donald Trump as he decides whether to seek the Republican nomination for president.

WBZ-TV's Peg Rusconi reports.

The billionaire businessman and reality TV host is spending the day on the Seacoast.

WBZ-TV's Political Editor Jon Keller puts the President and Trump's statements through the spin-o-meter

Meeting with reporters moments after he landed in Portsmouth, Trump said he's "very proud" of himself because he's accomplished something that no one's been able to accomplish, by getting President Obama to release his full birth certificate Wednesday.

"He should have done it a long time ago. Why he didn't do it when the Clintons asked (during the 2008 presidential campaign) for it. Why he didn't do it when everybody else was asking for it. I don't know."

"I am really honored, frankly, to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully, getting rid of this issue."

He added that "now we can talk about oil, we can talk about gasoline prices, we can talk about China ripping off this country."
