Boston Public Library Uploads Vintage Baseball Photos

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Public Library will publish over 2,800 rarely seen baseball photographs online starting on Friday, bringing baseball fans back to the Golden Days of America's pastime.

The photos, taken by Leslie Jones who worked for the Boston-Herald Traveler from 1917-1956, include snapshots of Babe Ruth, Ted Williams and many other famous Red Sox greats.

Jones kept every negative of every photo he ever took. One of his final wishes was to have the photos available for all to see, so his family donated truckloads of negatives to the BPL. It took nearly two years to digitize the famous snapshots, but all will be on the site in due time.

New photos will be published each week until the entire collection is up for viewing.
