Carlisle 6th Grader Wearing Red Sox Gear For 595 Days And Counting

CARLISLE (CBS) - One young Red Sox fan isn't about to let a little losing streak get in the way of his love for the team.

Eleven-year-old Ryan Bishop has been wearing Red Sox shirts every day for nearly two years now.

WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill reports

The Carlisle sixth-grader owns only Sox shirts.  They are the only clothing he will wear.

The streak started august 21, 2009, and actually happened by accident.

"Probably five days I wore the same shirt few days in a row, Ryan said. "My mom said, 'Are you going to change?' I said yeah, but only Red Sox."

April 12 would mark his 600th day in a row of wearing Sox shirts.

"It's become more than a habit, like, it's attached to me. The colors are attached to my body," Bishop explains.

Kyle's dad Tom was reluctant at first, but eventually warmed up to his son's quest. "In the beginning, it was like, 'why are you wearing red sox?' Then it became, 'he's going to wear them anyway so we'll put them out in the morning for him,'" Tom said.

Ror Ryan, his goal is to keep the streak alive until the Sox win another World Series.

He's heard the stories about an 86-year drought and still, he's willing to wait.

Ryan says when they do win, he'll take one day off and start the streak all over
