Amy Bishop Indicted On Alabama Murder Charges

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (CBS) -- Amy Bishop has been indicted on a capital murder charge and three attempted murder charges in the February 2010 shooting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Bishop is accused of killing three professors and injuring three university employees in the shooting.

Alabama law says the multiple murders can turn into one capital murder charge. The charge means she could be sentenced to death if found guilty.

The shooting happened during a faculty meeting in which Bishop was denied tenure at the university.
Bishop, who's originally from Braintree, was indicted last summer in Massachusetts for the 1986 murder of her brother, Seth. Police say she shot Seth inside their parents' home.

Investigators then ruled it an accident, but the case was reopened in February 2010 after the shooting in Alabama.

When the case was reopened it was revealed Braintree police never told prosecutors that Bishop tried to steal a car from an auto dealership, then refused to drop her gun when confronted by police.
