Curious About Speed Limits During Winter Storms
BOSTON (CBS) - In significant winter storms, the State Police lower the speed limit on the Mass. Pike to 40 miles per hour.
Brian from Halifax Declared his Curiosity, asking."Why don't other major roads like I-95, I-93, or I-495 have reduced speed limits?"
The Department of Transportation does not have the authority to lower the speed limit on any highway except the Pike.
It's only possible on the Pike because of a law that passed a long time ago.
