BOSTON (CBS) — Patients at Children’s Hospital got a special treat on Monday.

Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart and New Kids on the Block Joey McIntyre put on a holiday concert.

McIntyre has two kids of his own, and had another on the way. He says having kids put life in perspective. “It’s amazing. It gives you a level of compassion you never really knew you had until you have kids and you can connect with what these parents are going through.”

WBZ News Radio’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports.

I am hoping that you, or you may know of someone, who may be willing to consider involvement with the KID’S CLUB project that I started developing over twelve years ago. I saw your blog while doing research for this project. KID’S CLUB introduces chronically ill children and their families to the joys of the amateur radio hobby in a practical, easy to manage way. I have been working on the project alone since I started developing it and am searching for help for it. The Associated Press staff recently published a news story about KID’S CLUB. The link to this news story is in the KID’S CLUB post on the project blog at: Again, I am hoping for your interest in this. The KID’S CLUB project was selected to be presented at the annual “Youth at Risk Conference” in Savannah, Ga. in one of the project’s early years. If a KID’S CLUB unit is wanted, the chairperson of this project will solicit funding from the membership of the local service organization (Kiwanis Club, Lions Club or Rotary Club) . Thanks.
