Alleged Drunk Driver Hits Woman In Andover

ANDOVER (CBS) -- A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by an alleged drunk driver in Andover on Sunday.

Robert Bryant, 50, of Bradford allegedly hit the unidentified 30-year-old woman on Route 125, in front of the state police barracks.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. According to police, the victim was at the barracks to obtain a report from a previous crash. She was hit while walking back to her car.

The victim was taken to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment. Her condition is not yet known at this time.

Police say Bryant tried to drive away, but officers were able to stop him.

Bryant is charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash.

He is being held on $50,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Monday.
