EMTs Attacked By Patient In Marshfield

MARSHFIELD (CBS) – Two Marshfield paramedics were attacked and injured by a patient they were taking to the hospital by ambulance Wednesday morning.

The paramedics, who also serve as town firefighters, were attacked by the adult male patient on Route 14 en route to Jordan Hospital.

The patient first assaulted the paramedic giving him care in the ambulance.  The patient then jumped out of the ambulance, which had stopped following the first attack, and assaulted the paramedic who had been driving, in an attempt to gain control of the ambulance and take the wheel himself.

Before police arrived on scene, the patient darted across both lanes of traffic as one paramedic trailed him, trying to keep both the patient and passing motorists safe.

The male patient is now in police custody facing charges.
