Disabled Iraq War Vet Finds Help By Calling WBZ

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Cavalry is coming to Pepperell to help a marine who is down on his luck.

Iraq war veteran Matt Boisvert – a Tyngsboro High School graduate --was turned down for an Adaptive Housing Grant by the Veterans Administration, even though he lost his right leg and the use of his right hand in Fallujah back in August 2004.

Boisvert underwent dozens of surgeries to repair his injuries and was honorably discharged in 2005.

Boisvert said he waited nine months to hear that he did not meet the criteria for the grant.

Boisvert's plight was a topic of discussion on WBZ's Nightside with Dan Rea and Sen. Scott Brown was listening. He called in offering assistance.

Former Boston Bruin Lyndon Byers has also reached out, as have several local veterans who are promising to do whatever they can to help him.
