Harvard Docs Get Good Pay To Speak
Nice work if you can get it.....and you apparently can get ...speaking, for big bucks....if you're affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
Turning that prestige into personal prosperity is the focus of a front page story in this morning's Boston Globe. The newspaper finds that nearly half the more than 6 million dollars spent this year and last by seven big pharmaceutical firms on doctors went to Harvard doctors.
Several of them made six figures....one over $200,000.
Partners Health Care, which runs Mass General and Brigham and Womens hospitals, banned its doctors from the speaking program earlier this year out of concerns it could suggest the physicians were drug company shills driving up the price of medicine.
