The Parent Report: Social Networking

The popularity of online social networks continues to grow, and so does the challenge of keeping your kids safe as they use these networks.

Online social networks can keep your kids connected with their friends, but others can also exploit those connections. Paula Fleming of the Better Business Bureau, also a parent, says parents need to talk with their kids the difference between sharing, and over sharing.

And the "don't talk to strangers" rule applies online as well.

Also, parents need to set privacy settings online.

And if your child is 12 years old, or younger, remember they need your permission to go on certain sites.

And of course, you have to watch out for any possible cyberbullying.
