NH Woman finds treasure in trash
Police in Merrimack, N.H., say a woman who picked up a glass-contained scented candle at a recycling center found a diamond ring inside valued at $5,500.
Police say the candle was in an area where people leave assorted items for exchange. The woman picked up the candle, sealed in plastic with a small opening to allow the fragrance to be sampled, on Aug. 23. When she opened the candle, she found the ring inside the glass container and gave it police.
Police checked their database of lost and stolen property and didn't find a match for the ring, a diamond solitaire with a gold band. They say the band is showing wear and tear from more than likely being worn against a wedding band and are looking for the owner.
