Paperwork delays happy homecoming
Seventy New Hampshire soldiers who've been in Iraq for almost a year made it back to New England, but it will be a few more days before they get home.
Members of the New Hampshire Army National Guard 238th Aviation Regiment, Charlie Company, landed at Bangor International Airport in Maine on Friday, then reboarded their plane and headed to Fort Hood, Texas, for a few days of paperwork and processing.
Maj. David Mattimore told the New Hampshire Union Leader that most of the soldiers would rather go straight from Bangor to New Hampshire, but they are happy it will only be a few more days.
In Iraq, the unit flew helicopters to evacuate injured Americans and Iraqis.
