Attleboro high school mourns death of student
A student-athlete at an Attleboro Catholic school who dreamed of attending a military academy has died while swimming on Cape Cod.
School officials say 17-year-old Larsan Korvili, a senior at Bishop Feehan High School, was attending a religious retreat on the Cape and went swimming with some friends at Craigville Beach in Barnstable around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials say he started experiencing some distress and pulled from the water by lifeguards.
He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
School officials tell the Sun Chronicle that Korvili played football and ran track, and was most interested in attending the U.S. Naval Academy.
Principal Bill Runey called Korvili an outstanding young man and role model.
