Former PC Coach Welsh Arrested for DWI
Hofstra University has suspended men's basketball coach Tim Welsh after police charged him early Friday morning with with driving while intoxicated. Prior to being hired by Hofstra last month, Welsh coached at Providence and Iona, and spent the past two seasons as a TV analyst. Nassau County police stopped in his Lexus at a steady green light at an intersection in Levittown, New York. According to reports he was passed out at the wheel, and a Breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit (.18). Welsh has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
