The Bruins lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 in Mellon Arena, despite 31 saves by Tim Thomas. The B’s led the game 1-0 after a power play goal by Blake Wheeler (14) in the 2nd period.

Pascal Dupuis (16) and Evgeni Malkin (23) scored the Pittsburgh goals. Sidney Crosby picked up his 40th assist of the season.

Marc Savard was taken off in a stretcher with 5:37 remaining in the 3rd period after suffering a hit to the head. Matt Cooke delivered an elbow following a Savard shot. Cooke did not get called for a penalty.

The Bruins continue their 7 game road trip Tuesday night against Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs. You can listen to all the action on 98-5 The Sports, starting with the Dunkin Donuts Bruins pre game show at 6:30pm.

    I watched the game and as hard as it was to watch Savard lying there, it was even more difficult to see the pansy Bruins on the ice didn’t even go after Cooke. The real Bruins would have beat that guy to a pulp for something like this. This showed how little heart the Boston Bruins, as a team, have. The remainder of the game not one Bruin got into a Penguin face. Whimps. The entire team is wimps and will go nowhere in the playoffs unless they play the B team from Disney on Ice.
