Cindy Stumpo is CEO of C. Stumpo Development. She is an award-winning luxury custom home builder and developer in the Brookline and Newton area since 1989. Stumpo is among a handful of women who can claim this career and she hopes to inspire young women to become part of the construction industry. At the time her male competitors told her “You’ll never make it in this industry.” Cindy suffered a great loss while building her business, tragically losing her brother suddenly at the age of 26. She is no stranger to adversity suffering from a panic disorder her whole career, with crippling panic attacks, and raising two kids after divorcing from a 23-year marriage. For 25 years and counting, Stumpo has been building houses and shattering stereotypes and allowing nothing to take her off her game. She starred in HGTV’s “Tough as Nails” television series, and was featured in Forbes magazine, Boston Common, The Boston Herald, The Boston Globe. Stumpo was named “Builder of the Year” by her peers. Recently she spoke at TEDx Lowell and was named “Inspirational Woman of the Year” by the Brookview House. Stumpo spoke at the 2014 MA Conference for Women to a packed house of women, inspired by her story. Stumpo recently appeared at the Ad Club’s Women’s Forum to speak to a standing-room-only crowd. She stirs conversations promoting women in construction and encourages their entry into the field through her many appearances and speaking events.
