Foodies Rejoice: Upcoming Food Festivals In Boston

- By Hayley DavidFrom Italian street food fest to a locavore celebration, there are a number of food festivals and fairs for Boston foodies to look out for these next few months. Here, we round up the area's upcoming food events that have our stomachs growling. Culinary fans, save these dates!

Already being dubbed the "most delicious party in history," you'll have to remember to wear your stretchy pants to this food extravaganza, with all the delicious offerings at the fest. Meatballs, ice cream, seafood, chili, pizza, ribs, hot dogs, wings, cheesecake, drinks, whatever you're in the mood for you'll find it. If you can still move after the feasting, there are also a number of parties scheduled--featuring everything from dance contests, and karaoke jams, and yes, even a mechanical bull.

Celebrate the best of Massachusetts-grown and produced food at this locavore extravaganza. The Festival will showcase the wide diversity of local and New England food system, by spotlighting local farmers, food businesses, local food and health organizations. The fest aims to inspire the growing and eating of Massachusetts grown food, with a special emphasis on fruits and vegetables. Look out for great activities, including a local craft brew tasting, a seafood throw-down where chefs go head-to-head in a seafood cooking competition, and a crop share, where participants can bring their own produce to donate to families in need.

The Boston Vegetarian Food Festival is a two-day fun-filled event bringing together exhibitors of vegetarian natural foods from across the country and locally, offering free food sampling and "show special" discounts. If you're thinking of becoming vegetarian--or just want to start living a more healthy lifestyle--the fest also features speakers, cooking demonstrations and sessions with diet consultants to get you moving forward.

You'll have to travel to Martha's Vineyard for this "celebration of sea, farm and wine" but it might just be worth it. Martha's Vineyard premier food and wine event, the festival will feature wines from around the world and food prepared by some of the best chefs in New England. Participants can attend a wine seminar, attend cooking classes or indulge in exquisite dishes and desserts from participating Grand Tasting restaurants, all in one of the most picturesque settings.
