Step down off of Craigie Street into the dimly lit, subterranean dining room. They serve carefully crafted food at an affordable price (appetizers under $10, entrees under $25). For the most romantic experience, you might want to scope the tables, as the two-tops in the middle are pretty close together. Their original location in Jamaica Plain is also cozy and intimate.

Dimly lit, subterranean spots seem to be a theme when it comes to romance. Grotto is in the basement of a Beacon Hill brownstone, serving contemporary Italian cuisine.
