Under-21 hotspots in Boston are hard to come by since a city ordinance banning their existence was passed. However, there are some venues that can still open their doors to those who haven’t reached the magic age of 21 yet. While it might not be a traditional “club,” there will still be lots of flirting, dancing and music going on at Boston’s best under-21 hotspots.

The Paradise

967 Commonwealth Avenue
Boston, MA 02215
(617) 562-8800

The Paradise Rock Club in Boston has long been an establishment young people flock to in order to hear great music. It’s also one of the oldest clubs in Boston. The band that’s playing will determine what ages they allow in, so be sure to check the website before you head out. The lounge portion of the club also offers great food and four flat-screen TVs that show whatever sports game is on that night.

Ryles

212 Hampshire Street
Cambridge, MA 02139
(617) 876-9330

Live music, meringue lessons…these are only two of the reasons Ryles is one of the best under-21 hotspots in Boston. Ryles Jazz Club in Inman Square is a family-owned establishment that offers under-21 guests a glimpse into the world of jazz. Renovated in 1994, Ryles offers some of the best live music in Boston. They’ve also expanded to offer dance lessons. Now college students around Boston can try their hands, or feet, at ballroom dancing or salsa.

TT the Bear’s Place

10 Brookline Street
Cambridge, MA 02139
(617) 492-0082

TT’s offers live music seven nights a week. Some famous bands that have played there include Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, the Lemonheads and the Shins. Any place with decent live music every night of the week should be considered one of the best under-21 hotspots in Boston.

Rise

306 Stuart Street
Boston, MA 02116
(617) 423-7473

Rise is a unique nightclub for the city of Boston. Serving no alcohol and opening after most of the other nightclubs close, Rise offers a different experience for under-21 club-goers. Open Fridays, Saturdays and “holiday” Sundays from 1:30 a.m. – 6:30 a.m., Rise attracts international DJs, such as Danny Tenaglia and Mark Ferina. For those college students looking to dance the night away, Rise seems to be the best under-21 hotspot in Boston.
