Anyone who has appreciated a professionally manicured garden can attest that tending and arranging decorative plants is an art form. The lilacs of the Arnold Arboretum come in more than 100 types, though it is impossible to mistake the cluster of delicate flowers that droop from every one of the more than 300 lilac bushes in bloom on Lilac Sunday. They are arranged in a highly aesthetic fashion, allowing space for guests to sit between the bushes and enjoy the fragrance that emanates from them. Come from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to get involved in special activities.

The Boston Underground Film Festival is a competition/showcase of bizarre underground film. The festival gives people a chance to appreciate out-of-the-ordinary, alternative, independent films made by artists from all over. The prize is a demonic bunny on a vibrating pedestal. Past years have seen some mainstream, yet artsy filmmakers, such as the great George A. Romero visiting the festival, so be sure to look out for events and appearances scattered among the showings of short, medium and feature-length films.
