Boston's Best Restaurants That Opened In 2015

The past few years have marked a real rise in Boston's foodie culture. Great food is all over the blogs and Instagram, and is becoming more and more part of nightlife in the city as well. Bostonians don't need to look too far to find new restaurants with innovative chefs, local ingredients and top-notch cocktails. 2015 had no shortage of great new restaurants opening around the city. These are the five spots that are worth checking out sooner rather than later.

Selected as one of Boston Magazine's Best New Restaurants of 2015, Select Oyster Bar in the Back Bay has been getting a lot of buzz. Head Chef and Partner Michael Serpa offers a highly curated menu of local seafood including Gloucester swordfish and Maine lobster. They even have Vermont-made burrata for all of our Boston vegetarians!

Committee is the latest addition to Boston's trendy Fort Point Neighborhood. Their menu features a New England twist on Mediterranean meze with dishes like squash skordalia, grilled octopus, eggplant and lots of other Greek favorites. It is a great spot to head to after work and split a few plates with friends. Their menu has been dubbed "flavor forward" and this new hotspot is only going to build in popularity — especially next spring, when outdoor seating on their patio re-opens.

The Townsman is the newest hotspot downtown in Boston's Financial District. Located on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the Townsman is convenient for people from all parts of the city via the MBTA. What further draws people to Townsman is the restaurant's strong social and environmental commitments. Even the menu itself is "reflective of sustainability and seasonality, celebrating the Northeast growing region and waters." Some of the most fun New England dishes on the menu that show this sentiment are the Naragansett lager, butter and garlic mussels and the braised pork shank served with pumpkin polenta.

South Boston's foodie scene is exploding — a fact solidified by the opening of Coppersmith over the summer. With lines out the door over Coppersmith's first few weeks, upon finally entering the space, it is easy to see what all of the fuss is about. Coppersmith is more than an average restaurant; they also have a cafe, a roof deck and food trucks, all in a very Instagram-worthy vintage industrial space. Their menu is seasonal and combines flavor from around the globe, which is great for groups that are indecisive when it comes to picking a "type" of food to get for dinner.

While there is no shortage of great restaurants in Boston's South End, Banyan Bar + Refuge still manages to stand out from the crowd. The new Asian-fusion gastropub is located on Tremont Street next to The Beehive in a gorgeous old brick building. The space is gorgeously decorated with tree branches and is the perfect setting for any dinner celebration. The menu offers great shareable plates like buns and dumplings!
