Boston's Best Restaurants Open On Thanksgiving

Sometimes the best Thanksgiving meals are left to the experts at local Boston restaurants. Skip grocery shopping, prepping, cooking, and cleaning, and opt instead for a gourmet meal at one of these locations open on the big day. From traditional turkey dishes to feasting on an Italian meal, there is something for everyone.

Aura is celebrating turkey day with a delicious buffet brunch. Offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., pricing is $80 for adults and $25 for children (ages 5-12), plus it's even free for kids 4 and under. Chef Robert Tobin has created a menu that has everything from eggs Benedict, pancakes and chicken apple sausage to Thanksgiving dishes like roast turkey breast with cranberry sauce. There will be a perfect mix of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes, all provided for guests to eat as much as they would like. Leave room for dessert since Pastry Chef Karen Hodsdon will offer up mini pastries, cakes and pies and plenty of chocolate too.

Head to Legal Harborside from 12 p.m. to 8 .p.m for its customizable prix fixe Thanksgiving meal, for $60 per person. Take in the Harbor views and enjoy the appetizer options which include "Treasures of the Sea," a dish with oysters, jumbo shrimp cocktail and snow crab, or the short rib ravioli. Featured entrees are roasted Creekstone sirloin, Loch Duart salmon, Georges Bank sea scallops or Misty Knoll Farms turkey. Desserts selections are warm pumpkin steamed pudding, apple turnover with salted caramel ice cream and chocolate soufflé.

Head to the North End for an Italian feast on Thanksgiving, from 12 to 9 p.m. Give thanks with friends and family while enjoying the menu that has standout dishes like the cozze alla marinara, featuring mussels in a spicy tomato sauce served with grilled Tuscan bread. Other favorites include the eggplant rollatini di Nico, the Costara Ripiena, which includes a veal chop stuffed with prosciutto and fontina cheese in a white wine demi-glaze sauce for $42.95, or the supreme al limone where chicken is the star of the show, in a fresh lemon and light butter caper sauce for $18.95.

Hosted in the Ballroom at the Ritz will be an exciting Thanksgiving brunch. Dining is available on Thursday, November 27, 2014 from noon to 2:30 pm. For $98 per adult and $48 per child, eat all of the best Thanksgiving dishes you could ask for. There will be carving stations providing roast turkey and prime rib. There will also be a seafood station with shrimp, Jonah Crab claws and oysters. An event for the whole family, there is going to be entertainment and dessert decorating stations for kids to enjoy as well.

From 11:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m., 75 Chestnut in Boston's historic Beacon Hill has a three-course meal planned for $55 per person. Pumpkin bisque will start off the meal on a great note. Then turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and other veggies complete the meal. Desserts are pumpkin pie, rum raisin pudding and apple cobbler to round out this Thanksgiving feast.
