Boston Area's Best Spring 2015 Races

Spring is prime running time for outdoor enthusiasts who have been cooped up for all of the winter months, dying to get out there and engage in their favorite exercise and pastime. Granted, while there are plenty of runners who have all of the equipment necessary for winter running out there in the cold temps, the warmer and livelier spring months mean that races, marathons and half-marathons are right around the corner.

What better way to celebrate Memorial Day than by setting off for a warm May run through Boston? The annual run honors Massachusetts Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty. It takes place May 24, meaning that the late seasonal start will ensure a warmer climate than those March or even April marathons, which should make those who don't dig brisk autumn temps very excited. There is a 5-mile or half-marathon option through downtown Boston.

Plenty of runners and race enthusiasts make their way here to Sugarloaf on a yearly basis to take on this race, with the area's gorgeous mountain scenery serving as the perfect backdrop to a warm morning out in the natural Maine beauty. This is one definitely worth a trip.
