Boston Area's Best Hookah Bars

Although the practice of smoking tobacco via a hookah has been a classic tradition in many cultures for centuries, it has only recently seen a jump in popularity here in the U.S. Hookah bars have sprouted up in many major cities during these years, with more and more people - particularly young people - jumping on the bandwagon and indulging in group smoking sessions as a fun night out. Of course, Boston is no exception to this, and the city has plenty of great spots to head out for some hookah. Here are just a few.

Heading next to Boston's Allston/Brighton neighborhood, we hit up Habibi's Lounge, a Commonwealth Avenue spot that is quite popular amongst hookah fans across the city. Habibi's Lounge offers a bevy of flavored shisha - which is the traditional tobacco used in hookah pipes - in flavors that gravitate towards the fruity, citrus end of the spectrum, including peach, mango and lemon. This spot in Allston Rock City is known for its loud music and loose, fun times, making it perfect for a Friday or Saturday night out with friends.

As mentioned earlier, hookah lounges have gained an exponential level of popularity amongst young people in recent years, a fact that makes sense when taking into account the popularity of hookah lounges in Allston/Brighton, an area known for its contingent of young, hipster types with money to spend. The Nile Lounge is one of those places, with a wide variety of shisha tobacco as well as an equally decadent dessert menu, including that classic, indulgent favorite of the fried oreo! Add in a number of comfortable couches and you have a recommended hookah spot here in Boston.

Sheesha Lounge

Sheesha Lounge is located, predictably enough, in Allston and takes its name from the pronunciation of the traditional shisha tobacco used within the hookah. That said, it's more than fair to say that Sheesha Lounge specializes in hookah, and it shows. Hookah fans and aficionados tend to flock to this Cambridge Street spot for its variety of shisha flavors - rose, lemon, lime and mint, among others - and party-ready atmosphere. Sheesha Lounge is definitely a spot for birthdays, parties and a good time.

Koullshi

Charlestown, MA 02129

Located between Devens Street and Pleasant Street in Charlestown, Koullshi is popular and often packed on any given night, with plenty of atmospheric music and a fine drink menu to go along with any of the fine shisha tobacco available. This late-night spot also has the benefit of an attentive and friendly wait staff, ensuring that when large parties inevitably come through the doors here at Koullshi, they'll be treated to a great and memorable night out.
