Best Karaoke Bars In MetroWest

After gaining prominence in Japan -- where folks treat it like an art form with maximum respect and reverence -- karaoke has continued to gain steam here in the States, with bars, pubs and clubs building reputations around hosting some good, old-fashioned karaoke. The term originally translates into "Empty Orchestra," although there isn't much "empty" about these establishments, all of which boast some of the best karaoke in the MetroWest area.

Homey and unassuming, The Tavern Framingham is a perfect karaoke spot for locals and out-of-townies alike. Pub food, cold beer and good times provide the perfect fuel for a karaoke blast, while the Tavern Framingham's smooth mix of dive bar charm and low-key comfort ensures that even the most cautious, embarrassed or inexperienced of singers should have absolutely no problem peeling themselves from the wall and getting in on the karaoke mix.

What's better than pizza and beer? For the average person, not much, unless that person also happens to be a karaoke fanatic, in which case Franco's Pizzeria and Pub may seem like a dream come true. Franco's prides itself on its New York Metro-style pizza, while also encouraging customers to let loose at the bar during the pub's karaoke nights, making this Waltham destination a recommended stop for some tasty pizza, ice cold beer and some hot karaoke. There is a $10 minimum for all credit and debit card orders with Franco's, so bringing cash is a smart idea.

Although perhaps a bit fancier than an average dive bar or townie spot, Lavender Asian Cuisine and Bar boasts some of the best karaoke in Sudbury, with many die-hards and song specialists choosing to ply their vocal wares here on Boston Post Road, all the while indulging in Lavender's traditional take on Chinese food and drink. Located in a strip mall yet possessing a classy, Asian fusion decor which blends perfectly with the elevated menu, Lavender Asian Cuisine and Bar is an excellent backdrop for a night of karaoke fun on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

In comparison to Lavender, Joy Asia Restaurant -- also located on Boston Post Road -- presents a more charmingly dive-y atmosphere than its contemporary, although Joy Asia's karaoke nights promise just as much loud, boisterous fun on Friday and Saturday nights. As far as food goes, Joy Asia is more buffet line than fusion style, but this will matter little to most singers when they're chomping on crab rangoons and spare ribs whilst belting out all of their favorite hits.

Karaoke at a hotel? It's more likely than not these days, with the idea gaining particular steam amongst singers who are increasingly taking into account that there is a warm bed and a continental breakfast waiting for them should a particularly raucous evening of karaoke (read: drinking) unexpectedly present itself. Either way, Wednesday night karaoke at Fitzwilliams Irish Pub -- located within the Boston Marriott in Burlington -- is a guaranteed good time for those who wouldn't mind indulging in some traditional Irish comfort food while singing their favorite songs.
