A snowy, wintry start to the day with a widespread coating of snow. Temperatures will rise slowly today as highs slowly creep into the middle and then upper 30′s be evening, turning any leftover snow showers to rain or drizzle for many.
I must say the most noticeable thing this morning was the warm temperatures. Thanks to southerly flow and overnight cloud cover associated with a cold front now pushing off the coast, temperatures were steady overnight, and […]
Considering how cloudy and dismal November can be, we are doing pretty well. Starting out this morning, we have lots of November chill out there. Many locations bottomed out in the middle 20′s overnight, but with […]
Towards afternoon some high clouds will approach from the west associated with an approaching warm front. Regardless, lots of sun will be found with seasonal high temperatures around 50 degrees.
With this morning’s low lifting north and east of the region, we will dry out as mentioned with North winds wrapping in around the departing low. However thanks to abundant cloud cover temperatures will struggle to reach 60 degrees in most locations with the “Hot Spot” being far southeastern MA where proximity to a warm front will allow temperatures to reach a balmy 65-67 degrees.
With the cold front offshore, we can expect a rapid increase in sunshine this morning with mostly sunny skies developing. Although we are behind the cold front, the coolest of the fall air is still well off to our northwest, and as a result temperatures will climb into the lower 70′s most locations, with light northwesterly winds. It doesn’t get much better than this (unless the Patriots win of course).
Temps are expected to surge this afternoon with sunny skies with highs climbing into the 80′s nearing 90.
Let the warm up begin! A warm front lies south of New England the morning. Clouds are breaking with increasing sunshine for the rest of the morning into the early afternoon. A light SW wind will help allow temps to climb into the 70′s to near 80 inland, with a cooler breeze to be found at our south facing coastlines. The warm front will begin to push through late today and tonight. Clouds will be spilling back into New England late today and tonight. The remnants of the tornado outbreak in the Plains is spilling over the ridge and will be directed into the region tonight along the warm front. The best chance of a few showers will be between 6PM and midnight tonight.
With excessive heat warnings across the state, some cities and towns are reporting temperatures in the triple-digits. Weather spotters in over 70 locations throughout Massachusetts–plus more in New Hampshire and Rhode Island–have noted temperatures at 97 degrees and higher.
A look at average high temperatures show the peak occurs in July, though August temperatures typically are also warmer than June-the month of the summer Solstice.
