Gov. Deval Patrick has signed a bill that would update state law to prohibit so-called “upskirt” photos of women.
The new law is the result of outrage that followed a ruling by the state’s Supreme Judicial Court.
Massachusetts lawmakers moved at a pace rarely seen in the legislature, acting quickly to pass through a bill criminalizing the taking of photographs up the skirts of women in public.
Massachusetts’ highest court has ruled that a man accused of secretly snapping photos up a woman’s skirt on an MBTA train did not break the law.
