There were more than 400 million individual rides on the MBTA during the last fiscal year for the first time in transit agency history.
According to a new study from the Urban Land Institute, the T could be 20 percent more crowded by the year 2020 because of business and residential development.
Ridership on the MBTA is up for the 15th consecutive month, the longest period of growth in the transit system’s history.
The MBTA says riders are continuing to use the Boston-area transit system in record numbers.
More commuters appear to be leaving their cars at home and taking the T.
