Ex-Harvard President Summers Bows Out Of Contention For Fed Chairman

Lawrence Summers, who was considered the leading candidate to succeed Ben Bernanke as Federal Reserve chairman, has withdrawn from consideration, the White House said Sunday.

The White House says President Barack Obama’s top economic adviser plans to leave the administration at the end of the year.
