Judge Denise Casper
A federal judge in the trial of reputed gangster James “Whitey” Bulger has denied a request by his lawyers to order prosecutors to name a confidential informant they hope can help undermine the credibility of two key government witnesses.
The new judge presiding over the Whitey Bulger case has granted prosecutors’ motion to bar the reputed mobster from arguing immunity at trial.
Prosecutors told the judge Tuesday they expect the trial to last all summer and possibly through mid-September and they plan to call about 50 witnesses.
Federal judge Denise Casper will preside over the long-awaited trial of Whitey Bulger this summer.
